The City of Jacksonville announced on August 28, 2025 a new initiative called "Express Lane Permitting," designed to speed the pace of development by streamlining the compliance review process.
The City of Jacksonville has teamed up with Swiftbuild and its SwiftGov platform to use artificial intelligence to speed the compliance process. The initiative represents one of the largest municipal deployments of AI-powered permitting technology in Florida.
Express Lane Permitting uses SwiftGov to automate the initial compliance review for development applications, reducing the time applicants wait for feedback on their submissions. The program is designed to maintain the same level of code compliance while compressing the review timeline.
Jacksonville's adoption of the platform follows successful deployments in Hernando County and Titusville. As one of the largest cities in Florida by land area, Jacksonville's implementation demonstrates that the SwiftGov platform can scale to serve jurisdictions of varying sizes and complexity.
